About Me

Having started piano lessons with my mother at the age of 3, I went on to become a Junior Exhibitioner at the Royal College of Music, where I studied piano, recorder, clarinet and choral studies.  I subsequently went to St Hugh's College, Oxford, studying with Jane Glover and John Warrack, where I gained a B.A. with Honours, and during which time I began to develop my specialisms as a singer and accompanist.

After leaving University, I decided to follow a career in teaching, gaining firstly a PGCE and then an MA in Music Education with Distinction.  I taught for 10 years in schools in London, including Notting Hill and Ealing High School for Girls, and then at Bishopshalt School where I was appointed Director of Choral Music, training the school choirs and conducting performances including Vivaldi's Gloria, and Mozart's Requiem.

Since 1995, I have been working as a freelance peripatetic teacher of piano and singing in Oxfordshire, as well as continuing my career as a singer and accompanist.  I sing as a soloist in venues across the South East of England, including Oxford's Sheldonian Theatre, St. Martin's in the Fields in London, and Sherborne Abbey.  In addition, I have sung with numerous choral groups, such as Choros, Encoro, Oxford Pro Musica Singers, and Vox Turturis, with all of whom I have made several recordings, both as a soloist and as a chorus member.

I continue to work as an examiner for practical grades, diplomas and music theory, and I have served as  an assessor and  Team Leader for A level examinations.

I hold an enhanced portable DBS certificate which is renewed regularly.
